I got the product key from the base of the laptop. It is 25 characters (numbers & letters), and is on a Windows sticker, but is not recognised by Microsoft to find a compatible recovery disk. Do yourself the favor of ordering the usb recovery media instead of the disk set.
I have the product key for home premium on the back of the netbook, but I need a copy of Home Premium. I don't have the original packaging that included the restore disc. My hard drive has stopped working and I didn't make a recovery disk. When I bought my laptop, I bought with license. So I don't need to buy a license because I have one. This is not possible because there is no HP support to contact. You would thind that you could find something under downloads. I would go with the USB recovery media from HP, which will work.
Support means that HP need to provide me a download link and not to ask me to pay 48 € again for a license. First, Microsoft does not supply Recovery Disks. So, you can not use your product key to download one from Microsoft. I already tried this, but get an error message. The Product Key doesn't work, presumably because the software is slightly different and is bundled with other HP software. Anyhow, many thanks for your advice and taking the time to offer assistance.
